Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu inaugurates the Vocational Hub, 'Hunaru Vehi' at Huravee School

Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu inaugurated 'Hunaru vehi’, the vocational hub in Huravee School, aimed at providing vocational education to students in schools, today.

The establishment of ‘Hunaru Vehi’ is supported by the Maldives Aiports Company Ltd with assistance from Urbanco, as a part of its social responsibility project.

The courses provided in this program adhere to the curriculum set by the National Institute of Education (NIE). These include certificate-level three courses in electrical wiring and sewing, with additional upcoming courses in welding and carpentry. Upon successful completion, students will be granted certificates by the NIE, which holds MQA's Level three approval.

Another initiative, known as the 'Dhas Veshi,' serving as a STEM lab, was also introduced alongside the ‘Hunaru vehi'. This lab was inaugurated by Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, the Managing Director of the Airports Company. Within ‘Dhas Veshi,' an exhibition is featured, displaying ancient tools to offer students insights into historical practices.

Furthermore, a special facility named 'Mariyaadhu' was also opened to provide entertainment for the students. This facility was inaugurated by Dr. Maryam Mariya, the Minister of Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development. 'Mariyaadhu' is designed for various sports activities for both students and staff, offering facilities like chess and carom. Additionally, the facility also includes access to books and TV facilities.

Minister Ismail Shafeeu highlighted during his speech at the ceremony that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education are dedicated to integrating technical vocational education programs within the school system.. He also added that these initiatives will be inclusive and available to all students who want to take part in it.
